aka "just following orders"... people have individual judgement and personal responsibility. One doubts they would be looking to fine everyone who attended though based on how they were applied at the time of lockdown. Aside from a few overly officious coppers, fines were supposed to be for those who deliberately broke the rules.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishing -
You don't attend and make up a legit sounding excuse for not doing so e.g. medical issues, family emergency.Originally posted by Whorty View PostHow about this .... if you're a staff member, and the event was organised by your 'employer' as this seems to have been. And you feel like you should rock up to the employer organised event then get a fine ... where does that leave you, and the employer, legally?
They've asked you to go to an illegal event.
Both you and they have a legal responsibility to obey the law.
If they pick on you for not turning up then you have to use the current equality laws to take them to a tribunal. Either way the fact they are picking on you means you have lost your job.

At least they've, as promised, made this public. Though in reality it was only going to be leaked so best to get out beforehand.
I don't think it will cost them their jobs if it's a simple fixed penalty type thing. Not immediately anyway.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

Think of all the things Boris has done that didn't stop him becoming PM. We might find all the other contenders are in the same situation anyway!Originally posted by SueEllen View Post
