I agree. I am not suggesting that Puking's actions are not totally over the top. The point I am making is that few issues are entirely black and white and we should not rush to dismiss all concerns from the other side as lies and propaganda. There may be some valid concerns about treatment of pro Russian activists in Ukraine and we should take them into account if we ever get to negotiate over this war. Pretty unlikely with that nutcase in charge I admit.

This is a transparent lie that comes naturally to conspiracy theorists, cretins, and people with a distinct agenda.

All independent news channels offer a perspective, sure, but the difference between an independent news channel and a mouthpiece of the state is that one deals with analysis and opinions that are qualified as such and without draconian controls, undue partiality or fakery. The other deals in lies and disinformation that comes from the top. In short, legitimate news respects the basic rules of journalistic inquiry and integrity and they put safeguards in place to ensure it. Even Fox News falls within this category because, despite the strong editorial line, they distinguish between news/analysis and opinion and they have journalists that are critical of the editorial line (e.g., Jennifer Griffin).

The distinction is quite clearcut, either news is editorially independent of the state or it isn't, and only the hard of thinking are confused by any ambiguity that is injected by cretins that are trying to pander. As for Elon Musk, he is not a cretin, but he does have a habit of saying some very silly things on occasion. More generally, it is remarkable how the thickest among us proliferate the lie that nothing and no one can be trusted.

Russia's Kremlin have hired theatre directors to ensure constant disinformation sprinkled with solid facts. This means that nobody living in Russia really knows what is going on most or all of the time. They fund protests from far left all the way through to far right, including neo nazis and violent gangs. Why do they do this? Because it allows them a degree of control of those groups, increasing and decreasing funding, using FSB agents to help organise events - it is Orwellian

RT.com having 1 or 2 solidly factual articles a week is to try lure vulnerable people in (Gigibronz), providing some credibility, which means the other rubbish posted might be believed or given credibility by the very fact some of the articles are indeed true.
