Given that us whiteys have only been around for for a few 10,000 years I would edge that the terms were indeed used by black people before the escape from Africa @40K years ago.
I think what he's getting it, and it's something I've wondered, who coined the phrase. I mean black is used for people that are mid to light brown so it's not even the right word. If black offends so many people and is the route of all this language change and so many other things why not change the root word to something else new and inclusive? Most of the black words stem from the language used by white people. Negro from spanish and other N words. All given by white people.

So get rid of the word black which is more heavily linked to colonialism and slavery than everything else we are trying to get rid of. So why hold on to it? If we are happy to change so many words/sayings that are hundreds of years why not black? The preferred term has already changed very recently. Negro used to be preferred and was used by Martin Luther King more times than black in his famous speech but we've already moved on from that so why not move again.

South Africa is doing it and trying to remove it from their dictionary which seems the best way to shake off the ills of the past.

I know, ridiculous idea, never happen and all that.

Quite a few songs have had the word 'whore' censored following a recent update from OFCOM. I see a lot of people whinging in the same vein, and while I see their point the real question is how this was ever NOT censored in my view. It's really a pretty vile term.

How many pubs called "the Black Cock" are there I wonder?

I was at a funeral yesterday and the nearest pub to the crem would have been ideal for the wake. It's called the Sally Pussey, but since the sister of the deceased is Sally, it was ruled out since no one could keep a straight face about it.

Two. You'll need to go to Stoke though. I wouldn't recommend the Walsall option...
