    School bans parents from...

    doing school run in pyjamas.

Is this actually a thing? To go outside in dressing gown, pj AND slippers normally?

I know some people who wear pyjamas as lounge wear so they change into a pair of pjs to wear around the house but they don't go outside in them.

I've also seen people from a certain London Borough wearing slippers outside on public transport but they had dresses on.

But I've not seen anyone going around in all 3 unless it was fancy dress.

Also if the parents don't enter the school grounds they can't tell them what to wear.

Parents have been told to stop dropping their children off at school in pyjamas because it is ‘inappropriate’.

Ayresome Primary School asked parents to get dressed before doing the school run on Friday after noticing an increase in people arriving in dressing gowns, pyjamas and slippers.

Headteacher Charlotte Haylock posted the ‘polite reminder’ on Facebook, later saying parents should ‘wear appropriate clothing when accompanying their children to and from school’.

‘As a school, we encourage our children to be appropriately dressed at all times and we feel it is important for parents to do likewise,’ she added.

Many parents agree with the school’s position, while some branded the policy ‘judgemental’.

One dad, who asked not to be named, said: ‘I’m absolutely sick of it. It’s not hard to get dressed in the morning.

‘Imagine how much those kids are going to be ridiculed when they get into school.

‘They don’t even put on a fresh pair to come and collect them. A lot of the parents are disgusted by it.’

Yes. I see people in our Coop in such attire quite frequently. I don't hang around the school gates but I'm told it's quite normal in our local schools.

Onesies are pretty popular these days too.

Seems impossible to by pyjies anymore, they are called loungers.

I can see parents drop and pick up their kids from a couple of schools. They are all probably dressed around me.

                  That's nice. Good for you.

Very common and has exploded since the pandemic started according to SWMBO who is a primary teacher. It's not new though, it's been going on for years, particularly in not so well off areas as you'd expect. Here's one from 2106 https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-new...arents-7256862

Does surprise me they report on these but not the schools that have to send letters to parents not to smoke cannabis at the school gates. The last school my other half was at had to send two a year and had the police at the gates to try and deter it.
