When there's a peaceful vigil against a woman who was by the way murdered by a police pig...completely unnecessary use of violence.
The week before, when a hord of drunken troglodytes celebrated the Glasgow rangers title win...the useless cops celebrated with them and did nothing.
Utter disgrace.
There's a lot in what BlueSharp shared that I agree with. I also think the Met has a raft of institutional problems that mean it deserves the level of scrutiny it gets because it has behaved for decades like the rules don't apply to it.
A vigil paying respects to a murdered woman is not the place for rallying speeches. Most of those people didn't know her. Who decided that this particular case needed to be picked up and turned into an exemplar? Is it with the family's blessing?
It's awful another woman was murdered. It's also awful it was done by a member of the police force, who you'd expect to be a protector not a killer. Nothing that happened at this 'event' deals with that.Comment

Over here, there is an exemption here for properly organised protest. It's not difficult to do and necessary in the maintenance of democratic freedom.
(Yes, morons like SWP and Reclaim the Streets will have tried to get involved, but from what I can see, this wasn't dominated by such professional provacateurs).
That stupid Dick screwed up. Even disregarding the law and what really happened - it looks really bad. Policing MUST be seen to be fair and proportionate. It is, after all, by consent.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

A vigil is not a place to make political statements or protest, it's a place to show grief and support.
The fact we are talking about the police actions or even the hijacking of the event by the left and not that there is a fundamental problem with the attitude of some men towards women is the real tragedy here.

And who can blame women protesting? A PR disaster for the met, again. Do they not have the intelligence to see the irony of their actions?
There was an official vigil held in Bristol. Supported by the local police and completely peaceful.
Compare and contrast the actions of the Met - kneeling with BLM protestors, and skateboarding with Extinction Rebellion - with the way they treated a group of women "protesting" against violence against women. But according to Cressida Dick, nobody outside the Police is entitled to pass any comment on the events of yesterday in Clapham. I hope Priti Patel sacks her tomorrow. She obviously got the job because she was a woman*, because if she was the best candidate the Met is in serious trouble.
*That's not intended as a general comment against women in the Police, just this particular individual. His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...Comment

There may have still been arrests but they would have been the arrests of people like Piers Corbyn, who depending on the attendance criteria it would have been made clear he wasn't welcome.

Excellent we have an expert who knows what happened without being there. Maybe you can tell us who Jack the Ripper was?
Agree they should have closed that down as well.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Comment

It's all such a BS
Government makes covid law
Women go to illegal vigil
Police enforces law
Fake outrage
Politicians condemn police for acting on the law they just created, so they have some higher ratings in the popularity pollsСлава Україні! Героям слава!Comment

If it's BS how come the police in other areas of the country e.g. Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham and Cardiff where there were vigils aren't in the news?
The Met were aware they would have all eyes on them due to it actually being the place where Sarah Everard went missing and they completely screwed up.
