Chrome and Firefox on my Linux desktop get a connection error, can't access contractor UK at all, I can only access it on Windows using my work laptop.

Is that just the forum, or the main site too?

Ah dammit, it's down to the over-engineered way of defining page layouts they've used. Would you think defining how a page should be laid out would require a chunk of JSON stored in a database? Me neither, yet that's how it works! I'll see about sorting it out

JSON stored in tables - LUXURY!!!, in my day it were XML and we were glad of it, my grandfather worked with CSV lists...

I can imagine why but JSON is an order choice when it's possible things need to be ordered in a particular order.

That first link isn't a valid thread, look at the number and it's very much out of sync with other thread numbers created at the same time

That's the key: it's an internal node number, and the missing .html at the end is part of the same problem. They'd abandoned thread and post IDs, meaning they're all stored in one humongous table, and as that would have broken all existing links, I had to enhance the system to continue to use the old method.

Somehow, that thread has been created then retrieved in a way that led it to redirect to the node ID; I have no idea how, but it happened so I'll find out eventually. There seems like there might also be more to it, but I'll continue to investigate…

This thread still isn't accessible to me even after clearing cache. It's quite bizarre:
If I click the link (even when not logged in) it takes me to, which gives the error:

If I open it in an incognito window, I get the following link, which DOES work

Logged in the first link doesn't work but the 2nd one does... Safari, normal session - not private browsing.

Exactly the same for me (can't view it when logged in, can if I'm not logged in). d000hg is not on my ignore list either - so it's not that obvious issue.

It is randomly working now. I didn't do anything!
