JSON stored in tables - LUXURY!!!, in my day it were XML and we were glad of it, my grandfather worked with CSV lists...Originally posted by NickFitz View Post
Ah dammit, it's down to the over-engineered way of defining page layouts they've used. Would you think defining how a page should be laid out would require a chunk of JSON stored in a database? Me neither, yet that's how it works! I'll see about sorting it out

I can imagine why but JSON is an order choice when it's possible things need to be ordered in a particular order.Originally posted by NickFitz View Post

That's the key: it's an internal node number, and the missing .html at the end is part of the same problem. They'd abandoned thread and post IDs, meaning they're all stored in one humongous table, and as that would have broken all existing links, I had to enhance the system to continue to use the old method.Originally posted by SimonMac View Post
That first link isn't a valid thread, look at the number and it's very much out of sync with other thread numbers created at the same time
Somehow, that thread has been created then retrieved in a way that led it to redirect to the node ID; I have no idea how, but it happened so I'll find out eventually. There seems like there might also be more to it, but I'll continue to investigate…Leave a comment:

This thread still isn't accessible to me even after clearing cache. It's quite bizarre:
If I click the link (even when not logged in) it takes me to, which gives the error:
https://www.contractoruk.com/forums/...how-was-school
If I open it in an incognito window, I get the following link, which DOES work
https://www.contractoruk.com/forums/...as-school.htmlLeave a comment:

Logged in the first link doesn't work but the 2nd one does... Safari, normal session - not private browsing.Originally posted by d000hg View Post

It is randomly working now. I didn't do anything!Originally posted by eek View Post
Exactly the same for me (can't view it when logged in, can if I'm not logged in). d000hg is not on my ignore list either - so it's not that obvious issue.Leave a comment:
