Never understood this, every BBQ I have hosted I have had family friends look after the barbie, which means I can spend more time drinking.

It's the same attitude I've encountered at BBQ competitions and probably the same attitude I'll encounter when I set up my BBQ cook school, but it hasn't stopped major brands such as Big Green Egg enlisting me as their ambassador.

I use to melt bic pens and the very plastic crisp packets you use to get, when I was about 8 under the grill. By the time I was doing chemistry at secondary school I preferred to do different experiements using the chemicals there. (Though oddly the stricter chemistry teachers were the ones to try such stuff on and those sciences benches were very thick. )

I'll bet it wasn't just the bench tops that were thick at your school...

norrahe, I admire anyone that makes a success of their talent and I would love to visit your bbq school, if only to tut passively aggressively at the back of the class.
