Well the guy that donated a million pounds to a uni on the condition it was ring fenced for poor white boys was called a racist. The uni called the donation obnoxious.
Your memory of that story is a bit muddled.
It was two private schools - not universities.
Some good points being raised in the debate. If they were to turn up to school, then they'd get a decent education. They should be put into multi-cultural schools where they can learn a better work ethic from other cutural groups.
Perhaps I'm wrong and you can provide a link to your version of the story - if possible including where the university called it "obnoxious"
My memory is often muddled and it was Dulwich and Winchester colleges that refused the money. Again the colleges didn't call it "obnoxious" it was About Us - Sutton Trust that did that.
The colleges refused the cash because they were worried it would break equality laws and they didn't want to be sued by other groups, despite Cambridge Uni accepting a much larger donation to support black students.
So really the same point, when someone does put their hands in their pockets to support poor, white boys it's rejected.

So you think it would be a good idea to move these boys away from poor areas to wealthy areas with better education, or to say parts of London that have a significant investment in education?

Not necessary as long as they turn up to school. The girls go to the same schools and don't have a problem.
You know it's easy to say that but it's clear. White boys, from poor areas are failing miserably. It's not just education this increases incidences of mental health issues and suicides.
Rather than having to defend my view that we need to help these group I was expecting that we would be discussing ways of improving their lot. Seems strange some of the nastiness out there.

Ok, so why is that happening? Are you saying it's a trait of white boys to be lazy, or could there be other factors affecting their education? What can be done? Is investment in Education that perhaps targets these boys helpful?
