And if you set it up in an area where the demographic is over 98% white e.g. not an inner city then you will reach your target demographic of people."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JR -

So, you are saying it's up to charities to help poor, white boys and not the government? Why don't you think government should target it's help at the most disadvantaged group in society?Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostWell it is illegal to setup a charity or organisation that discriminates on skin colour.
Discrimination because of race - Citizens Advice
So you would have to setup a charity that helped working class boys. That would be fine.Comment

Because that's how it works now.Originally posted by woohoo View PostSo, you are saying it's up to charities to help poor, white boys and not the government? Why don't you think government should target it's help at the most disadvantaged group in society?
If you set up a charity for a social purpose you apply for government grants or get offered them if you have the right people on your board. Charities do the work that the govenrment should be doing."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

I don't think anyone has argued that we want to send everyone to Oxford or even Cambridge if desperate.Originally posted by AtW View PostOk, that's not possible to have Oxford place for every pupil, and super well paid job for every workers, but everybody can go and vote easily in voting booth - how many of that group vote regularly?
Pensioners have high voting turnout and that gets them big benefits from politicians.
Good point about voting. The problem is helping poor white boys isn't politicised if anything you could lose votes. You could be perceived as being racist.
Why don't poor people vote, well as Tony Benn said “The people in debt become hopeless, and the hopeless people don’t vote... an educated, healthy and confident nation is harder to govern,”Comment

Compulsory voting is the way forward, but let me guess - white working boys won't like infringement of their freedom not to vote?

An example of the government making a co-ordinated response would be to look at how it tackled the aftermath of the London riots. Investment.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostBecause that's how it works now.

Charities serve a purpose but I don't think they can tackle the massive inequality these boys face.Comment

If you are white and poor who are you going to vote for? Perhaps if someone represented their view they would vote.Originally posted by AtW View PostCompulsory voting is the way forward, but let me guess - white working boys won't like infringement of their freedom not to vote?

Can you imagine a government form where you have to enter your skin colour to get the assistance. Would they have signs on the class rooms, "whites only" ?Originally posted by woohoo View PostI don't think anyone has argued that we want to send everyone to Oxford or even Cambridge if desperate.
