While the troubles in Ireland were split along religion, the actual religions themselves were not the drivers for the troubles. In the middle east simply being the wrong type of Muslim can be enough for you to meet your maker!
In the troubles that was enough. I asked some blokes who were sitting in the pub in the mainland who basically lived next to each other why they didn't meet up in NI and they pointed that out.

If "the West" wanted to stop ISIS, then stop the flow of money and arms.
...but that won't happen while Trump & May are busy doing arms deals with them, and where T & M use "terrorism" as a word to allow them to control the masses.
You don't need to blame "the West" for ISIS, but "the West" could stop ISIS if the financial and political incentives were removed.
Big difference is that we (the West) are not targeting innocents.
This is disingenuous, and merely semantics. We may not target innocents, but we certainly kill enough of them.
If a terrorist detonates a bomb killing 50 surrounding innocent people, but later claims that he was only trying to demolish a wall, does that mean he's less "responsible" for the peoples' deaths?

It's only our restraint which is preventing massive bomb attacks, such as Bee suggests. It's war. Innocents die. The side that seeks to maximise that (Daesh) is certainly on lower moral ground than those who are seeking to minimise it.

(emphasis mine).
In that case, the only winning move is not to play.

Nope. More people die if you don't play. Because Daesh certainly won't be stopped except by force. If you stand by and allow mass murder, you are just as culpable as if you pulled the trigger.

I didn't mean it like that. The religions determined what side of the fence you were on (literally) but it was really a hatred of the opposite community. They were not killing each other because of their religion - it wasn't because their god was better than the other god etc. The religion just happened to be how the 2 sides were split
