I didn't mean it like that. The religions determined what side of the fence you were on (literally) but it was really a hatred of the opposite community. They were not killing each other because of their religion - it wasn't because their god was better than the other god etc. The religion just happened to be how the 2 sides were split

No. Because they are deliberately setting out to cause pain and suffering. Maybe in your fantasy land motives count for nothing, but for some of us it's an important moral distinction. They are not fighting by the same rules that we fight by.

You don't need to blame "the West" for ISIS, but "the West" could stop ISIS if the financial and political incentives were removed.
