As a parent I ask myself if there is anything I can teach my kids to help them in a situation like this.

Things like proper first aid skills, and street smart skills.

Remember that tragic ferry sink in South Korea with all the kids blindly following the crews orders to stay where they were.

For instance I always count the number of seats to the nearest emergency exit - so that I can count them by feel if the room/cabin was filled with smoke.

It bring back memories of when client co building was on fire. The fire marshals prevented us from leaving until the floor above was evacuated (as per instructions from security). Security then directed us leave by the east stairwell. However, security had made a mistake because the fire was at the bottom of the east stairwell and we should have used the west one.

Luckily no casualties. Years later at another client co building, the fire marshals told me that each section has their designated fire exit to which I replied, “if there is a fire I will not wait and I will chose my own exit.”

Having some distant councillor in the same party and being directly behind Irish Republicanism are quite different in my book.

Playing devil's advocate, but if it's immigration related then are you not storing up greater problems for the future if many 'similar minded folk' are turning up?

This is a war and like I said you cant defend hundreds of miles of coastline, using immigration as an argument is a bit like telling me that Hitler would not have invaded Poland if his troops could not get a Polish visa.
