area first, House & price next.

Bought our 4 bed detached off the family of a little old lady who had died. Roof leaked, holes in walls, garden was a forest, all the fences knackered and holes in the driveway. about £10k later and its close to done, next an extension (permanently fixing the roof) and a couple of replacement patios. Will need new full price curtains & carpets when done (we used cheap / previously owned (from in laws etc) to avoid them getting ruined)

People didn't buy it because it wasn't in perfect nick but it was priced to reflect the situation. We are over £100k up so far.

Lovely close and nice Neighbours but we were the family with kids that moved in.

Artex is £20-30/sqm to plaster over.

Best trick is to look at the ceiling get the dimensions from that then decide if you like the shape of the room. If you are worried draw the rooms layouts on paper and play with them till you are happy. We blocked 2 doors and removed 3 walls to get it how we want it feels much better for our lifestyle than the layout they had.

Cats aren't normally the problem they don't stink anywhere as bad as Dogs. If they have dogs you are looking at new carpets immediately.

I'll form an opinion on those if I ever find one.

        Only if you're poor.

Try Switzerland. My house is a largish 4 bedroom semi (200 m2 over four floors) forty minutes walk from the city centre - £1.3 million. Mind you, a lot of that value is due to the pound dropping in value. 15 years ago it would have been £500K.

You don't want a patio, you need there to be ground you can build a patio on afterwards.
Better yet, make sure there is some woodland near the house.
I watched the Unforgotten. Doesn't work.

White vans parked all over the pavements. Houses with 5 cars per household, several being parked on the pavements.
          I get up...

If you park them on the drive, the postman scratches them trying to squeeze past.

There are some larger houses near my sister in Bristol that would traditionally be the abodes of the professional classes.
A new trend is for members of the same extended family to club together and buy these places.

So you can have 10 people in a 5 bedroom house.

And that will be a lot of cars....

Can't stand kids, especially teens so would be no no to live near a family.

Can't stand chunts with motorbikes, noisy tw@ts.

Can't stand yapping dogs, ******* little bastards.

                      Can't stand noisy neighbours.

Can't stand areas with poor parking.

                      Can't stand overlooked gardens.

Can't stand anywhere near a school or school run.

Can't stand north facing gardens. Cold, damp and horrible for almost the whole year.

I have more on my list if anyone is interested.
