The problem is politicians start acting like they have total support when they don't. If only a quarter of the population really wanted a Tory government, then even though the reality of the voting system we use means that they get to be in government maybe they shouldn't claim they have the will of the people behind them. Will work inside IR35. UKIP - 3,881,129 votes, 1 seat
Libs - 2,415,888 votes, 8 seats
SNP - 1,454,436 votes, 56 seats
Greens - 1,157,613 votes, 1 seat
The problem we'd have is that it's hard to imagine how we'd get a government formed if we had PR unless you cut down on the number of parties that can stand. But that's not exactly fair either.
At a simple level, those numbers show the following...
Total votes cast = 29,591,312
Total seats = 630
Avg votes per seat = 46,970
If seats allocated by average...
Conservative - 11,334,920 / 46,970 = 241
Labour - 199
UKIP - 83
Libs - 51
SNP - 31
Greens - 25
I'm sure there are loads of things wrong with this, but on the face of it, that doesn't look too mad.Comment

I don't think I could have voted for Trump or Clinton. Neither is fit for office.
However, the more the lefty snowflakes cry and burn flags and whinge, the more I'm thinking that america made the right choice.Comment

You couldn't make it up!
Feck me, has the simple act of 'reading' been lost since my departure?"Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

What's most interesting here is the 'working man' coming out in defence of the establishment. Thicker than a thick whale omelette doesn't come close to describing that sort of thinking. In fairness it does not take a leap of the imagination to suggest 'thinking' was part of the process here and an insult to thinkers who actually think. RIP reason."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

....and if they don't agree with you, then just simply beat them up.
