Quite true we need to be very careful to avoid offending or discriminating against law-abiding UK citizens but we should not fail to tackle real problems out of fear of appearing racist. Allowing real problems to grow is the worst thing you can do if you want to reduce prejudice against law abiding minorities.

As far as immigration is concerned, we do not have any duty to foreign citizens. Unless we can ascertain that would be migrants are likely to be law abiding and useful they should not be admitted. Stats on the performance of previous migrants from the same nations is a pretty valid way of assessing how rigorous the checks need to be. Being guided by realities is not racism.

It's possible to be a fundamentalist Muslim without supporting terrorism. It's possible to be a fundamentalist Christian without believing we need more crusades.
The issue is not race, colour or creed, but hatred and divisiveness.
If someone is told every day by their teachers, their media or whatever sources they rely on that they should hate "non-Muslims" or hate "non-whites" or whatever, then eventually that sinks in.
The next step that their teachers do is tell them why to hate the others, and that is done by convincing the person what the others believe/think/do
The final thing is to convince that the only solution is to get rid of "the others".
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

"Hatredness and divisiveness" is a ridiculously loose way of describing it. It is about extremist ideology. Some extremist ideology is invested in race, some in faith and some in class.

Mental illness is a convenient excuse.

The truth is most people can turn violent, it just needs a trigger or an environmental factor to trigger it. True paychopaths are very rare.

You really are too ignorant to make any meaningful comments.

The people who randomly go stabbity-stab in a public place are often schizophrenic and/or psychotic, not psychopathic. Psychopaths are of the ilk of CEOs but decided against a career in industry in favour of something more honest.

Quite true but fundamentalist Muslims, AKA Islamists, are still a threat to the future of our society. Most people in the West want democracy, equality, rational laws based on realities and individual freedom provided it does not unduly impact others. Islamism is compatible with none of those things.

Even if they are not criminals or terrorists we should not let in people who reject the major principles of our society or who are not prepared to integrate to a reasonable extent. Do that and you just end up with more minority groups who remain separate from society and that just breeds more distrust.

This chap was from Norway. As I recall, the worst crime committed there in the last few years was by an anti-Islamic Odinist white supremacist. Maybe that's the culture this chap was reflecting?

Or maybe when people who are mentally ill do terrible things, it's just because they're mentally ill.

And anyway, the culture he was brought up in was that of the UK.

Most folk can be nasty and brutish, you just need to put them in the right environment, or press the right buttons. Doesn't mean they are mentally ill, far from it. It means they are an animal reacting to basic stimulus.

You have clearly lead a sheltered life.

Both of these where "Care in the Community" cases e.g. known to mental health teams - link and link

If you know people in work in mental health care, or are unfortunately enough to have family, friends and acquaintances who have needed help ask them about their experiences. (Though with your attitude they probably won't take the time out to inform you.)

Many people including posters on this board suffer the daily over crowding and nastiness of the transport network and streets in London but they don't push people under tubes/trains/buses and neither do they pull out knives and stab them.

BTW All the Nazi et al experiments are to find out why people in groups turn nasty to individuals NOT those acting as lone individuals.
