Fair enough. For the record, I think the Swedish bloke was quite out of order. The UK is a sovereign nation, and even within the EU it can set whatever rate it wants for any of its taxes. UK tax rates should have absolutely no impact on our negotiations with the EU.

So we are broadly in agreement.

If both sides were to take this approach I'm sure we could get a win win.
