and look what they intend if we remain

“In response to Brexit, we couldn’t simply call for more integration,” he is quoted as saying. “That would be crude; many would rightfully wonder *whether we politicians still haven’t understood.

“Even in the event that only a small majority of the British voters reject a withdrawal, we would have to see it as a wake-up call and a warning not to continue with business as usual. Either way, we have to take a serious look at reducing bureaucracy in Europe.”

So lets assume the brexit vote wins - what happens on 24th June - well it's simple

            1) We stop paying whatever money we pay to them - so someone needs to log onto the governments internet banking and cancel that direct debit - should be easy enough?

            2) There will be some (70 odd?) MEP who are apparently representing the UK in the EU - these people will now be made redundant as the position they were in will no longer exist and so is a classic redundancy case. They can they get their redundancy package and then need to update their CV and apply for another job - many people will go through this 1 or more times in their life so not really a major hardship

            3) Trade deals - well okay at the moment we have trade deals with many countries because we are part of the EU - so we have to assume those deals are mutually beneficial for all involved. So lets just take a copy of the trade deal and where it says EU just cross it out and put UK there and all should be okay.

If any countries feel it is unfair then we can renegotiate but why would a trade deal suddenly be fair one day and not the next just because we have voted out of a political union. The only reason it would suddenly become unfair is because someone somewhere has decided to make it more difficult - this is not a direct result of us leaving it is a direct result of someone throwing their toys out of the pram because we left and then deciding to make new rules which make it difficult.

The other thing to remember about trade is this - if my company has a product which is wanted by another company in another country and we can get that product to that company for a price which is competitive then that is what we shall do. It is fook all to do with any aging politician who I do business with.

            What could possibly go wrong

Are Brexiter's not fond of the Swiss or Norwegian model? Both countries pay into EU coffers.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

No they prefer the Tellytubby Land Model where the UK decides that it wants access to the free market but no payment to the EU and no free movement of people, and the EU agrees. They are firm in their conviction that this will happen because they really really want it to.

No why would we want to do that?

You use that word free - so any member of the EU can trade with any other member of the EU and there is no import/export duty then?

Oh no wait of course there is

Free - you keep using that word - I don't think it means what I think you think it means.

If the Brexiters have their way, who will they next blame for everything wrong in the world?
And at what point do people start to take responsibility for their actions.

When a British farmer has to sell off his land because Tesco are driving the price of milk through the floor, choice: blame the EU, blame Tesco, shop ethically.
When a British high street store closes due to lack of business, do you: blame the EU, blame Tesco, buy everything on eBay from China, or shop locally?

People cannot continue to blame others if they are not prepared to do something themselves.
Back in the 1970s we had "Keep Britain Tidy" campaigns and were encouraged to "Buy British". Maybe a bit of respect and responsibility from individual citizens rather than doing nothing apart from blaming others, then Britain would be a better country. And that would be true whether we remain as part of the EU or we exit.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore
