So thickos support Brexit and the more intelligent support staying in
Where is "elsewhere" exactly? Most of elsewhere is becoming trading blocs that won't be that easy to access unless you've got something they want. Last time I checked this wasn't exactly an economic superpower, nor do we have much in the way of natural resources, so if we tell the EU to take a hike where are we going?
Anywhere you like. Why not? Every country in the world trades outside its borders. Why should we be different?
As for us not being an economic superpower, we're the fifth largest economy in the world. I suspect there are many countries who would be queuing up to do business with us, free from the overburdening EU bureaucracy and tariffs.
Not forgetting, of course, the EU itself. I suspect the likes of BMW, Siemens, Peugeot, EDF, etc would be quite upset to lose us as a market to sell in to.
So why is the UK being hampered by being in the EU ?
If the UK left the EU it would then have to go and renegotiate with 50 countries.
This would mean they have 8 working days on average to cut a deal with each of these countries. Is this likely or would the UK perhaps just have 10 or 20 trade deals by the time the UK left the EU.
Seems like the entire government would do nothing more than scrabble around trying desperately to cut a deal with a handful of countries.
Our incredible intellect. CUK alone must be worth billions.
Quite. Education is quite a big earner.
Manufacturing wise most car companies set up here in the 80s to access the EU market.
British Aerospace makes wings for the Airbus (I don't see that continuing).
Rolls Royce would be left I suppose. Would Airbus favour Snecma for engines post Brexit. Probably.
Maybe there would be a renaissance in manufacturing afterwards, what do you guys who want out think?
Manufacturing, really?
We're crap at that, that's we have a trade deficit unlike Germany.
Nearly all car companies are foreign.
I guess that's my point, the others you mention, except tourism, require brains and so only benefit those of the population on the right side of the Gaussian curve.
What's our hypothetical thicko to do?
