My granddad had reliant robins because he never had a full driver's license, just a motorbike one, and a robin was considered to be the same as a motorcycle with side car.
I remember many a happy jaunt during the summer holidays in a robin.Comment

You had to go to an MOT station and have a blanking plate fitted to the gear selector that stopped it going in to reverse to drive it on a motorbike licence. I had a Bond Bug in 1980 that I used in the winter cause I only had a bike licence at the time. It wasn't required. You could pick up the front end and turn the whole thing around on your own. They had a horrible tendency to roll also (see J Clarkson), but again could be rolled back over by hand and away you went.Comment
