RIP Jerry Pournelle: https://www.jerrypournelle.com/chaosmanor/passings/ https://whatever.scalzi.com/2017/09/...rry-pournelle/
I used to read his Chaos Manor column in Byte in the days when we got information from printed magazines. TBH, I mainly read it because I was bemused that somebody could display such a ridiculous degree of entitlement with what seemed to be a complete lack of self awareness, but there was also the odd useful thing about some new piece of kit he'd obtained by calling up the manufacturer and demanding they send it to him for free

Used to read his novels knocking on for 40 years ago.
He & Niven were "advisors" to Ronnie when he was prez.
Which must rank with the presidential soothsayer advising on meeting with Gorby in Iceland.

RIP Billy Batts (but he was already dead, you can't wack a made guy without a sitdown)
qhHe had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.
I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.
