Mrs Balls: Britain should take 50000

The numbers being bandied around creep ever upwards.

Fuelled in part by the social media echo chamber now doubt.

Talking of which "Dr" Jack Monro has been in fine form on Twitter this week:

Some of you still want to draw imaginary lines round 'your' country because of 'their' birthplace. **** the hell off.
Not a lot of compassion in that comment.

Is it just me or are some of these "No Borders" proponents driven by more than a little spite?

People who don't wish to live in their utopian rainbow collective are subject to vile abuse.

    That, to me, is fascism.

Also while it's know there were chances from Pakistan in the marchers but there were also chances from Iraq and Afghanistan. People from both those countries can claim asylum as legit refugees fleeing from conflict.

A question, possibly imaginary, but let us see where you get to. Let us assume that you have two sons (fit and healthy) who are over 20 and each has a family of his own with lovely cute children.
Imagine that Team ISIS has spread into UK down to the roots (well, the real future!) and are slaying everyone left right and center. Would you let your fit and healthy sons flee the country? Or would you hand them a gun each and send them to war against the evil?

While this is an imaginary scenario, history sadly has evidence in both the wars where men younger than 20 have fought for their land and died. They did not flee with their smart phones taking selfies on the beaches of Australia or South America.

As you said recently, times have changed. Back during the two wars, men were fighting for improving their country and the lives of their fellow citizens. All you see now is economic migrants fighting to improve the condition of their own arse and a selfie.

I would want them both to flee. Sorry I know enough people who grew up without one or both parents due to their deaths.

If they didn't have children I would want ONE to stay and fight.

And it would be the same if they were women btw

          That is a callous comment.

In the picture I saw, the poor little lambs didn't even have selfie sticks.

Overheard on my train journey this morning....

I drove up through Devon back to Bristol last night - across Dartmoor, over the Somerset Levels, over the Mendip Hills....

              ...And what did I see?

...SPACE! Lots and lots of space....

....I remember there being a statistic that said something along the lines of the population of the whole planet when standing shoulder to shoulder would fit on the Isle of Wight....

              ..more twaddle...
