Considering they are coming here illegally, I don't see how a UKIP government would be much different. It would still be just as illegal.

I think families with young children should be prioritised.
The hoards of young men chanting "Germany!, Germany!" at the Budapest rail station the other day all looked young, fit and healthy to me and, judging from the apparel in which they were attired, did not have the look of people who had just undertaken the perilous voyage one would associate with the act of fleeing a war zone.Comment

It would ensure the UK was under no pressure to take more.Originally posted by d000hg View PostConsidering they are coming here illegally, I don't see how a UKIP government would be much different. It would still be just as illegal.
Or maybe they would throw out some Eastern Europeans to let in some Arabs?
I was reading an article today that said that Arab states refuse to let in Syrians! So they have no choice but to go to Europe.Comment

Obviously as much solidarity there as the EU

If you had bothered to read my post you would have seen I suggested helping them closer to their home say in Turkey. We could do this for far less than trying to accommodate severely damaged people into our populations.Originally posted by d000hg View PostDo you mean the UK or the EU by 'here'?
Clearly the UK cannot take in the world's refugees but is "we can't help them all" really an argument for "so we shouldn't help any of them"? Look at soup kitchens and homeless shelters in deprived cities - they can't feed and house everyone who turns up which must be heart-breaking when they have to close the doors to a queue of desperate people - but that doesn't stop them helping those they have resources for.
If England was invaded and my family got to "free Wales" into a refugee camp that was defended by the UN Army.We would be safe, well fed & cared for. Why should Monaco accept us as refugees if we smuggled ourselves there illegally?
This is all emotion no logic.Comment

Actually you would probably have a lot more immigrants if UKIP got voted in as one of their policies was to strengthen links with the Commonwealth however the Commonwealth in turn want free movement between all countries in it, basically the same as the EUOriginally posted by BrilloPad View PostMigrant crisis: Pressure mounts as UK urged to 'do more' - BBC News
I think a lot more people are wishing they voted UKIP.

There is a vast difference in the way refugees are being accommodated, in Turkey they're being held in camps where the intention is to eventually return them to their country of origin once it's safe whereas in Europe this is not the case and refugees that settle there will indeed take up jobs and residence in that country and won't return to their country of origin. In Scooter we trust

UKIP want to strengthen trade ties to the commonwealth. And retain them with the EU.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostActually you would probably have a lot more immigrants if UKIP got voted in as one of their policies was to strengthen links with the Commonwealth however the Commonwealth in turn want free movement between all countries in it, basically the same as the EU

Quite. Perhaps temporary asylum is what we should offer rather than hand out permanent residence and create yet another open door for families etc. We also need to have strict rules on countries, those with major conflicts like Syria, from which asylum is permitted. We should not even consider people coming from places like Nigeria or Pakistan which have safe areas and fairly effective governments. We should also insist on documentation that proves they are from major conflict areas. There is a vast difference in the way refugees are being accommodated, in Turkey they're being held in camps where the intention is to eventually return them to their country of origin once it's safebloggoth
