Turnout approx 70% ... tough tit, people should stop moaning and vote if they want representationOriginally posted by pjclarke View PostAs usual we're going to be governed by a party for whom >75% of the electorate did not vote.Comment

Still sad to see Farage go. Whatever you think of his politics, he is right about being the only leader outside of the Westminster group think. Also he is an interesting/funny bloke. He can take some comfort in the fact that he helped write the Labour and Conservative manifestos, both parties falling over themselves to echo UKIP policies.Originally posted by Zero Liability View PostThey will, but we'll see how permanent his resignation is. Suzanne Evans is his likeliest successor.
That said, provided the referendum goes ahead and Cameron is replaced by a relatively laissez faire Eurosceptic type, I'm not awfully bothered.Comment

I noticed a large swing from the Argentinians in Arran South. must be the Falklanders voteOriginally posted by pjclarke View PostThanks for theanalysisgloat. Ho hum. I note the Greens doubled their vote and my pension portfolio is up on the post-election surge , and coincidentally the Halifax announced a 1.6% rise in property values this morning ... maybe I'll bring my retirement/emigration plans forward ...

Wow, we have to get PR in!Originally posted by SimonMac View PostUnder proportianl representation the results would look like:
- CON| 36.8% | 239
- LAB| 30.5% | 198
- UKIP| 12.6% | 82
- LIB| 7.8% | 51
- SNP| 4.8% | 31
- GRN| 3.8% | 25
- Other| 3.7% | 24
So with FPTP we are more likely to get a majority government, is that good or bad though after our first taste of a coalition since the warComment

They just had 'Two Names' on the Beeb, he was reminding us that they have already legislated for boundary changes to make the vote fairer and for 600 MPs. Comes into force Novembr 2018.Originally posted by unixman View PostFPP system works well with only one or two large parties, like we have had for 40 years. Not so well where in the current circumstances. It leads to a large part of the population being ignored. You can't really do that in a democracy. Viz the absurdity of UKIP requiring 3.4 million votes per seat, tories and labour more like 40,000. I have always been staunch supporter of FPP but reconsidering now.
we can have 3 MPs for Scotland. save a fortune.Comment

Why would either of the two (three?) main parties want to weaken their position, only people who would want it is UKIP and the Greens and no one listens to themOriginally posted by PurpleGorilla View PostWow, we have to get PR in!Originally posted by Stevie Wonder BoyI can't see any way to do it can you please advise?
