Because the none Muslim communities from the sub continent kicked off about being tarred with the Asian-grooming brush when the main perpetrators are Muslim in these cases.

Would it be any less offensive if it said Pakistani sex grooming? Someone one somewhere would be offended without actually understanding the details.

You just can't get all the complexities and scope of stuff like this in a title so it's going to be a bit off the mark.. Saying that if all the evidence points to the fact that a very large percentage of this act is carried out by muslim men then it seems pretty justified to me. Identify a problem area and target it. It's the whole picture but gotta fix it one step at a time and the first step is Muslim men....

I agree "Muslim" may be rather an unfair blanket description, it is mostly about those of Pakistani origin. May be to do with the fact that contempt for others is part of their culture:

American Jews generically take on American culture, but they're still Jews and not because of their religion.

You are considered a Muslim if born to a Muslim family which is why you have many proud muslims who don't believe pretty much anything about Islam.

You even get the same with Christianity although not to such lengths in most cases - RC especially. Loads of people would label themselves as Roman Catholic just because they are from that background, were confirmed and went to a RC school, etc.

It's hard to take race out of it when it is specific to certain cultures.

It could be argued though that the rape culture endemic in Pakistan and India is a combination of the colonial attitudes of women being chattels, the caste system, and the long shadow of religion
