Did you sort it all out? Or do we have to keep up with more cretinous crap?

Microsoft, sql server and other stuff just works out of the box and if it does not work, there are tons of solutions on SO.

Java, Oracle and other tulip, just wont work and no amount of tinkering will make it work.

Neither. What did you think I meant by "I have to admit defeat"?

Not quite. You can get it to work provided you can find a female virgin from Essex to sacrifice and install everything on a harvest moon in June..

I can remember installing Oracle DB on Sun SPARC boxes in the 90's - linking, running root.sh in another terminal, hours and hours later it would say 'insufficient space in /tmp'.......

                Happy days....

I can never understand why Oracle & co keep missing the usability factor, they must know what people think when it just doesn't work.

                      It has to be me

                      Some classic quotes

                      The CEO of the consultancy

"Very strange, it worked when I installed it there" 3 times now.

                      Ah very well then.

                      And now from the client

"I hope your colleagues can help you figure this out"

So a total VONC there as well.

Yep, it has to be me.
