Because its the standard "We are better than thou" viewpoint that IPSE wish to put across. And its the viewpoint that personally makes them unsuitable to manage a cockle stand let alone claim to represent 5million people including me.merely at clientco for the entertainment -
Well it could be worse. It might be you doing it.Originally posted by eek View PostBecause its the standard "We are better than thou" viewpoint that IPSE wish to put across. I don't (and never have) claimed to represent anyone apart from myself... What I do however dislike is people claiming to represent me insulting me by using terms like a Bum on a Seat (although granted that was your IPSE colleague and not yourself)..Originally posted by malvolio View PostWell it could be worse. It's funny actually, but I looked high and low in that article and I never saw your name and unless you were the one in the red dress, I didn't see you in the picture.Originally posted by tarbera View PostCongratulations on your new thread. when are you meeting the prime minister ?

Let's be clear on one thing at least: "Bum on Seat" (or BoS) is not and never was a term of derision. It was a shorthand description coined at least ten years ago by another BoS to describe people like me, who peddle knowledge and skills to a client in essentially an office environment as opposed to those who take a more retail-oriented approach. The vast majority of IPSE members would describe themselves as BoS if asked.Originally posted by eek View PostI don't (and never have) claimed to represent anyone apart from myself... It's not IPSE that has corrupted its meaning.Blog? What blog...?

How could it be worse than a bunch of arrogant, jumped up fools claiming a mandate they do not deserve "representing" us when their track record is not one of success.Originally posted by malvolio View PostWell it could be worse. It might be you doing it.

It's not IPSE that has corrupted its meaning.
The term was never derogatory and I don't even believe that it has been corrupted, simply misinterpreted. Bum in this isntance refers to body not the US meaning of tramp.Comment

Seriously. The contempt for silent members who post on here but not so much over there is palpable. Some of the mods need to have a quiet word with themselves.Comment
