I think TM said it best when he explained that a CU is in the best interests of both sides. If rUK says no then fine but they will be punishing themselves too.

Butting a barrier up to your second biggest export market, and a pretty big import market is a good enough reason, forget the balance of payments issues that the rUK will have. That would be political suicide for the rUK prime minister or chancellor.

Whatever happens will be painful, but the CU is not in the RUK interest and so will not happen. TM repeats the Yes reason for a CU, but ignores the economic arguments and the political arguments.

No-CU will allow the RUK to manage their own economy. We'll have to manage our own independent economy. We can still use Sterling, the Euro or the Twat, but we will not have a CU.

Don't think the relative size is the issue here. Scotland buys billions of pounds worth of tulip from England, and vice versa.
