Surely its just following 14 years of standard practice within that organization...

If it wasn't for IR35 it wouldn't have been created and IR35 is the only reason they are still around.

Remove the insurance they offer and would anyone be a member...

So it's similar to the fire and damage "insurance" offered by many gangs?

Nice contract there, would be a pity if HMRC asked a question or two....

But I do IM work as well. There are clearly two sets at play.

Yeah, me too, it seems the reset email was a two parter lol.

The background about why the change has been made is all over the IPSE website, as is a summary of what has been achieved over the years. Perhaps some on here should have a read.

And that explains the huge proportion of university leavers how...?

Of course, there's an element of what you're saying, but the point is there's a lot of people working without a contract of employment. They still need support and representation, whether you call them "professionals" or not. And, amazingly to most on here I suspect, IR35 is a minor element of that support.

Incidentally, how do you get to be an IT "professional"? I've been at it 30-odd years now and still haven't seen a certificate to say I am one...
