"Mork & Mindy: In Mork We Trust (#1.21)" (1979)
Orson: The report, Mork.
Mork: This week I discovered a terrible disease called loneliness.
Orson: Do many people on Earth suffer from this disease?
Mork: Oh yes sir, and how they suffer. One man I know suffers so much he has to take a medication called bourbon, even that doesn't help very much because then he can hear paint dry.
Orson: Does bed rest help?
Mork: No because I've heard that sleeping alone is part of the problem. You see, Orson, loneliness is a disease of the spirit. People who have it think that no one cares about them.
Orson: Do you have any idea why?
Mork: Yes sir you can count on me. You see, when children are young, they're told not to talk to strangers. When they go to school, they're told not to talk to the person next to them. Finally when they're very old, they're told not to talk to themselves, who's left?
Orson: Are you saying Earthlings make each other lonely?
Mork: No sir I'm saying just the opposite. They make themeslves lonely, they're so busy looking out for number one that there's not enough room for two.
Orson: It's too bad everybody down there can't get together and find a cure.
Mork: Here's the paradox sir because if they did get together, they wouldn't need one.Join IPSEComment

Mork & Mindy was great. And you could tell he was making a lot of it up on the spot by the other actors responded.
Some rubbish films though. Mrs Doubtfire was appalling - well I say that having never seen it but it's one of those things I don't need to see to know how bad it is (Glee for example). Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

Mrs Doubtfire was actually great, my girls will happily watch it over & over and the comedy is at many levels. There was also a good social point, it was one of the few movies that was pro paternal contact in divorce.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostMork & Mindy was great. Try it you might like it. The movie, not dressing up as a woman though if you are into boxing....

Bit harsh to judge the guy's talent based on Mrs Doubtfire alone.Comment

I was 14, parents were out at a Christmas do so raided the drinks cabinet and watched RW A Night at the Met on C4.
I cried with laughter nearly all the way through it, probaby made me understand what comedy was about. (as opposed to tv sitcoms, etc)
Tears of a clown and all that.
Requiescat in pace.
qhHe had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.
I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

I can't stand movies, etc where the actors dress up as women, Mrs Doubtfire, Tootsie, even that fecking awful Mrs Brown Boys or whatever it's called.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostMork & Mindy was great. I think my favourite Robin Williams movie is What Dreams May Come, which is a bit soppy for me but I liked it, and Moscow on the Hudson where he played a Soviet defector. I liked the scene where he was asked to get from coffee from the store and so overwhelmed with the myriad of choices, Kenyan, Arabic, Columbian, compared with just 'coffee' in the USSR he sank to his knees and cried. Not with joy at all the coffee riches but in sheer frustration at what having a choice does to you sometimes. I felt the same when buying inkjet printer cartridges....Comment

That was part of his genius being able to make films that appealed to different groups of people.Originally posted by VectraMan View Post
