          We did, we invented tanks to overcome trenches ,which had replaced cavalry charges but kept walking slowly towards machine guns (well for a bit). Tanks & plane allowed Blitzkrieg and the response was Guerrilla warfare. War evolves. Its unlikely to ever disappear, even with MAD nutters want war.
