Tell you what, go back to Mumsnet. Ask a question, get an answer, don't like an answer, pretend you know the answer. Whoop di doo.

Ok, feed the agent, since you "have a clue" Now be useful or go hide somewhere.

The client won't pay the same rate to you if the agency is cut out the loop, he'll pay market rates, i.e. your net rate.

This is a myth that you cut the agency out and you get the agency's rate why? because of the additional cost of searching for candidates and risk the client has when he takes you on direct, so he'll shove your rate down.

...and no he won't dump the agency when you've agreed a contract because there is usually an agreement with the agency that would mean he would have to pay compensation.

The agencies exist because the clients want them, and that's why you can't exclude them.

Firstly, I don't use agents anymore. I have five active clients, two full time staff supporting me, one office for us all and no agents. So I don't have an agent to feed. Nice try though.

Secondly, I never saw the agent as a parasite. Because of the reasons I gave in my original post. If you have enough business acumen, there is nothing stopping you finding work without the agency. But you've gone through an agency which suggests you needed them at some point.

Thirdly, I am being helpful. It's just not the answer you want to hear. Grow up and listen to what people are saying for christs sake.

On second thoughts, keep acting the way you are. It keeps the rest of us looking good.

I did. Sadly our hero didn't like the answer. That's his loss. But that doesn't get away from the fact it was a bloody stupid question.

No, that post answers how to avoid agents in the future (and answers it well).

The OP can't get work on their own, so uses agencies. They are then looking to get rid of the agency because they don't do anything
