Remember the Mars orbiter that crashed in 1999, costing NASA $125 million? One team assumed imperial calculations, one team metric.

The moral of the story - never make assumptions. If you are going to, test those assumptions, otherwise you're nothing more than a naive fool.

Remember the second world war ? Well my Uncle Frank's squad was pinned down by a German machine gun nest until only he was left alive. He hid under the bodies of his fallen comrades and found a bottle and a half of Scotch in one of their rucksacks. He downed the lot in two minutes. He was, not surprisingly blazing drunk. he loaded his machine gun and charged the German machine gun nest single handed, killing a whole German platoon in the process. No one was left alive but him.

The moral of this story ?? Don't mess with my Uncle Frank when he's pissed.

Not much help to the O/P I know, but about as relevant as your contribution.

To the poster I was posting to the contribution was entirely relevant - given he's banking on a 'long term contract' when nothing of the sort exists.

Anyone heard what the take up for this is like? Deadline is 10am tomorrow (Thurs). I've already informed them of my decision.

                This^

The single interview I had with RBS lasted for less than 60 seconds. They made it pretty clear what they thought of contractors. I made it pretty clear I didn't work with people like them.

Well, I simply asked if they could give me a brief overview of the project and what role they were looking to fill on it, just to make sure we were correctly aligned (we'd already covered the "technical interview" over the phone the previous day.)

Mr RBS PM Plonker very agressively and rudely responded that he wasn't prepared to discuss the project until he was good and ready and that if I didn't like that approach he could end the interview right now!

I simply stood up, put my coat on, explained that I didn't work with people like him and then left the building. Life is just too short.
