She is implying we are not all warm and cuddly and supporting our gender against the world like netmums. Instead we are a bit sharp to give critique and ask questions on business type questions someone going contracting should or be able to research before they get in to it. This is a fair question though, agents do take a bit of getting used to.

As this is the OH's first contract, accept it at the £10 lower rate and look again in 6 months time. Unless OH can afford to be choosy. And btw - don't mess with Netmums...

Hate all those abbreviations used in Netmums etc OH, DO, DH, DS, etc etc. Why not just use good old "husband".
Back to the main point, if your husband had some balls he should have said no and the agent would be back accepting that it was a piss take on his part. They tend to do this to first time contractors.
