Your OH is doing the negotiation for you? Did she help with the interview?

Are you really asking a bunch of strangers on a forum whether or not to accept a lower rate? How much lower? What other factors are there??

How big are you cojones and how much do you need the money? Did you resign from your perm gig yet?

This has happened to me once, and the drop was significant. I said, "No thanks." and put the phone down. The agent was back on the phone within the hour saying that they had made a mistake and the original amount was fine.

Oh your OH is the contractor!! You are the internet interface instead?

Are they on the client's PSL?

Do they work on a fixed %age margin above your rate?

If the answers to the second question specifically is no then I would be very dubious about their motivation.

Why can't he post his own questions? Looking at some of your posts you/he/she needs to do quite a bit of reading so chinese whispers isn't going to help your cause one iota.

First rule of contracting. Don't believe a word that comes out of an agents mouth. He WILL lie about rates and cuts to suit him. This is normal and cross we have to bare.

If he is on a fixed margin it can be as low as 12% we seem to think but either way, take what they say with a pinch of salt.
