    Anyone at RBS?

    Hi all,

Getting calls from agents with positions at RBS. Just feeling a bit nervous about working for RBS. So many negative news about it on TV.

    Any insider thoughts?

Should be ok; Fred Goodwin left a while ago now, plus the new chap has forgone the bonus.

Should be fine, I know of some big projects that they need to do. 10% cut should already be factored in

There's probably lots of different bits going on.

From the project that I know people on, there's no way I'd touch it, but there might be good bits.

These state funded banks seem to be the new "public sector" i.e. consultancies in there doing work and charging lots of money for it. Some of my old work colleagues are contracting at places like Lloyds, through consultancies, and getting paid a decent whack for it.

Personally I would not want to go round telling people I was earning £4-500/day at RBS, when they make the same in a week. I'd get sick of explaining why it wasn't as exorbitant as it sounded.

I started with RBS in December. Business are a bit tense and therefore difficult to deal with at times.

Project I am working on is mandatory so not worried about the security of the contract any more so than any other roles.

              Weekly payment too

What are the rates like there now?

I'm guessing City rates are still ~£500 on average?

RBS - depend on the area / asset class. some areas are being closed down or sold off. Where possible Permie Eqty staff will be offered roles internally in other areas, this means that contracts will be cut. The rational is that "it saves a redundancy payout"

                  I would treat with caution.

What role are you considering? I work in the business change, PM, senior BA space. I took a rate cut for this job. £100 a day less than my freelance management consultant position with my last client. I figured earning something was better than earning nothing and I have a weeks notice period so can sod off if I get a better offer.

PM's/Change Managers seem to be getting £450 max, Senior BA (accountant) around £400. From what I can tell there is no variation between London and Edinburgh rates (guess that is something to do with the pool of available people). Bristol are getting around £50 less.

                    Hope this helps
