I preferred the old third world sweat shops producing everything for next to nothing in conditions I didn't have to think about whilst our labour market was protected.

    Why am I to blame?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Do you mean this one - http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/em...mpanytransfer/

its quite easy to meet these conditions and still go cheaper than what an average IT contractor will charge.

In US this is called a L1 visa where the requirements are a bit more stringent but still possible to obtain.

the migrant will be paid the appropriate salary rate for the job.
Additionally, any migrant entering the United Kingdom under the tier 2 - intra-company transfer category must not be directly replacing a settled worker.

There is no shortage of local skills and rate should not be a factor, indefensible IMO.

To be fair it's affecting permanent workers more than contractors but in turn this affects the whole market.

Admittedly the electrical goods could be maufactured in the UK but the market has lost out to China and Taiwan, some cars are made in the UK but again many have been bought out by foreign maunfacturers, but not everyone will buy British (like the states) and we do like a choice.

Coffee - not a very common crop in the UK
Electricians - yes, there are still some guys who provide such services from the UK.

IT folk from India - when there are enough people in the UK that could be employed to provide the same services, then you do ask questions.

I can see what you are saying, but I think the trouble here is the vagueness of the requirement -

the migrant will be paid the appropriate salary rate for the job.
If you read the rest of the section you will see how this is flexible enough to allow companies to provide cheaper labour.

Additionally, any migrant entering the United Kingdom under the tier 2 - intra-company transfer category must not be directly replacing a settled worker.
The IT services company bringing in a worker from India does not replace a settled worker in its own UK branch. When it rents out the worker to another UK company it might replace a settled worker. But the letter of the law is followed.

            So all legal.

I can't really argue with that but I could lose my home, family, sense of worth etc etc but I really should quit my whining as I can always go abroad and **** up some other poor sods life I suppose.
