As a shareholder in LBG, I welcome this news. I do feel the pain of my brothers out there, but I suppose there are swings and roundabouts!!

Right now cost seems to be the only thing people care about, and outsourcing is making things cheaper for firms right now. The fact that they will get screwed down the line in maintenance costs is probably not a concern. And let's face it, it's better to have a shoddy IT system tied up in a crippling support contract than have your business go to the wall.

There will always be a market for UK contractors in public sector, small projects, agile projects, niche roles and high value locations.

Can we all stop with the bleating.

Times are hard and we have to compete for sure. But there is a market out there. Your choice is whether you wish to compete and accept the peaks and troughs of the market and at which end you wish to compete.

            High End or Low End.

Here's a clue.....Low end is the wrong answer......

But what if the peaks don't return? I'm still waiting for the 2001 peak to return.

It's all looking like one big trough to me now for sure. You are welcome to it.

There make another choice. I hear Pig farming in Devon is just the thing. But please be aware that those foreign meat wholesalers will be competing with you..

Or you could Clean Windows but the Romanians are doing that around your area already

Etc Etc. It is just competition.

                DEAL WITH IT........

Indeed. I had clawed my way back up to getting 81% of what I was on in 2001.

Deal with it - hmmm. You say don't accept tea-boy rates but that competition is everywhere.

Bit of a contradiction, no? I will deal with it but you have to be realistic. The traditional contracting model is looking a bit dated nowadays. Just skilling up won't be the answer.

I reckon you may be in for a shock when you are up for renewal my friend!
