Ladies & Gents
As previously mentioned I'm looking for a few contractors at the moment. I'm not seeing brilliant CVs but I am seeing exorbitant (sp?) rate requests. Has something exploded in the SAP market or are they just trying it on?
Example - very average looking PM, not really got the relevant industry experience - asking rate £600.
Accountant recently turned Data Manager no none finance experience - rate £650
Similar contracts are out there for much less money, particularly the data one - I know of 3 other data contracts going at around the 45-500 mark.
I have spoken to a couple of other agents who I know better than the ones on the PSL and they tell me that around £500 is reasonable for both.
Also what is it with apps architects? They get a sniff of SAP and want £750 a day??!
Our agency agreement is allegedly transparent and we pay a 12.5% margin (I know that is comparitively low) - it's possible that the agents are upping the ... contractor rates either officially or unofficially ... to get their % up.
A quick internet check seems to inidicate my sub £550 rate is perfectly normal. Would appreciate your views, am happy to argue an up in budget if these are current rates but I'm thinking the agents and/or the candidates are taking the p*ss. One of the agencies - the one quoting the big rates - is not a SAP agency and maybe they are upping the £s because of the system thinking that's the way SAP rates are ...
