I wish people would treat the Business/Contractor and Legal sites as forums for putting up constructive comments that can add some value by assisting other readers.

Alex Mann are ok (I am throught hem at the moment - and this was after a similar experience to the original posters happening last year).

The thing with them is - they are huge. They have two contracts with CSC and Cap Gemini to provide all of their staff - if you want to work with either of those firms then you need to go through Alex Mann - there is no option to go dierct etc.

Because of their size - annoying things do happen. But heh ho - you don't get any of the small agent bollocks either - they don't try and squeeze rates etc - or at least don't seem to. (I know this as on my original contract I suggested 300 a day and was told - by the agent - to go for 400!!).

Becuase they are stafffed by HR people not agents, and because the have a permie mindset not a contractor-biased one. That's why they are difficult, becuase they genuinely do not understand the market they are dealing with nor the problems that contractors face. My last contract was run on my terms legally, because they never tried to challenge my suggested amendments to their contract (which were quite extensive), they simply assumed I would turn up and ignore all the paperwork like a good permie.

Most of the time they're not deliberately trying to mislead, it's more a case of they are using a different, employment-based model. That's why you need to be aware of it and take appropriate precautions

I wondered when you were going to get round to the support you have for them as well. Is that distinction - that they are staffed by HR and not by HR controlled EB suppliers, your way of demonstrating how only you understand how the relationship between EBs and contractors work?

He (she?) also missed the key point. AMS are not an agency, they are an outsourced Human Remains department, mostly tied to CapGemini. Treat them as such and it all becomes easy. Their people are not agents and have no idea what a freelance contractor really is.

Is it worth pointing out you joined to peddle your distortions on there and flounced off when you had to deal with direct and informed criticism? Thought not.

You should be wearing your PCG hat all of the time, if you want to brand yourself as the forum expert on here, which you clearly do.

My attitude has always been to give informed answers, some of which are very long and, I hope helpful, at least to those who have and still continue to PM me. I have also had a laugh at others and myself. Consequently, I should still be the same well respected and high profile poster I once was. It was due to the integrity and effort I put into my answers that I was once a well respected member of this forum, appreciated when posting and missed when not.

That was before a concerted effort was made in the spring of this year to discredit me by you and your merry band of henchmen all becuase of one highly uninformed and inaccurate post from Vito, whoever he is, who claimed incorrectly that I had accused him of being a tax evader. I didn't see you coming to my rescue then, only to take advantage of the situation for your own benefit. Since then, it is clear that some of you on here and probably the same mob posting on the PCG have gone out of their way to hound me off that forum and this one, just because I didn't hold the same ultra right wing or pro-recruiter views as some of you. So I didn't flounce off, as you put it. I was bullied off.

IBullying is not something we should be applauding on here and I'll be damned if I will allow myself to be patronised and ridiculed and misrepresented because I have something to say that doens't fit cosily into some BNP manifesto document or because I am a woman.

We should all be embracing diversity of political views and opinion as well as having a laugh and joke which I am more than capable of doing. There is no room for the kind of bigotry and ignorance that turns so many readers off this forum and turned me off it too for far too long.
