Final Round - sorry to of started this now!!

Anyway - an update from me on AM and CSC. I am now sat at home - should of been started at CSC this morning. Contract was sent at 5.30 last night and was wrong and have been argueing with them this morning

The three month + contract has gone to two months, 8 weeks, and now basically seven weeks as CSC don't want me to work over Christmas/New Year - and I don't either but AMS are not willing to alter the schedule to exclude these dates and change the end time, but then are saying it is 8 weeks guaranteed at 40 hours!!! and can't understand that it isn't. I have basically been told to like it or lump it by AMS.

A clasic statement from them this morning has been that CSC don't know how their own recruitment process works!!!!

I have lined myself up for an interview with phones4u this afternoon. Rate is not as good but it is 3 months + at the worst time of the year.

The guy off Dragons Den doesn't own AMS any more - more than likely realised what w@nk3r$ they were and ran.

Anyone got any thoughts on my suggestion in regards to independant agents who act on behalf of the contractor/consultant only.

    Cheers

    Lawrensol

I had trouble with AM when starting out. They took my CV for one role at an IB and then without telling me blanket applied for all the roles at the IB. The client wasn't too impressed when other applications turned up via another agent.

Then to cap it all of one of the people at AM tried to persuede me that the Ltd Company was not the best option and I should go with P4 of all people

Luckily got a role through an agent I'm very happy with elsewhere

Yes - they did that to me - sadly I was just starting out and knew no better.

For record, I was also offered a contract role via AM Unfortunately, budget was not authorised. I went for the interview and the client agreed they would hire me but then I found out from AM that the contact is withdrawn. So anyone dealing with them, I can only say that make sure you SIGN the contract first before serving any notices.

Doesn't that hold true for any agency though? I don't stop looking / give notice until I have something in writing that I've signed.

It does however the originator of the post fell victim. We all get sometimes exicited and agencies sometimes make it look good and we lose the focus. So its prudent to remind ourselves now and again.

I admit - I did fall victim to Alexander Mann, and did get excited as after a year plus of working around the country and being away from home, or early start/late arriving home, it was like a dream. What I hate about Alexmann is that there is basically no negotiating with them and there is no impartiality on their part because they are so tied in with their outsourcing agreement. I honestly don't think that they should even go to the market with these roles trying to represent themselves as an Agency\EB. They obviously are not and should put it out to the real EB's etc..

Also, it is the lies that even when you prove to them what they have told you, they still stand by them - God, it must be hard to recruite people like that, I wonder if they drink Horlicks at night to get a good nights sleep

                Cheers

Where I am now the Alex Mann staff are based on site, they have created a limited company specifically for the account - so in affect not Alex Mann anymore. The contract is with AMS, payment is by a ltd co set up for the account. When they want references and you say you will only give them direct to the client on request they will get another Alex Man member of staff to send an email from the CLIENTS DOMAIN so you think the client has requested this info but they have not. All the Alex Mann staff have an alterntative email from the clients domain.

My main worry about this setup is should they lose the account they can just put the ltd co into liquidation and avoid payment and they pay at least 5 weeks in arrears.
