I am pleased to announce that on 11th October 2007 U Recruitment, a brand of ESS, purchased some of the assets of Veritas Recruitment Group (In Administration) Ltd (“Veritas”). The assets include the work in progress and benefit of the contracts.

Given the recent uncertainty and confusion surrounding Veritas the first responsibilities for U Recruitment will be to bring clarity and continuity to both Clients and Contractors who have been kept in the dark.

The first and most important task is for us to gain an accurate picture of your current situation and ensure that prompt payment is made to you on all unsubmitted (not billed to the end client) timesheets.

In order for us to pay your unsubmitted timesheets it is imperative that we confirm all details with you and your end client as soon as possible to ensure accuracy. We would therefore like to discuss all outstanding matters with you at your earliest convenience to clarify the situation.

Once these details have been validated with your client and contracts have been signed we shall ensure prompt payment is made. Be assured that we are also in communication with all relevant clients to explain the situation and make them aware that there is now a solution in place for all unsubmitted timesheets.

As your point of contact I am enclosing my details as follows:

    Gary Watson
    U Recruitment, 500 Avebury Boulevard, Milton Keynes MK9 2BE
    Tel- 0845 245 3100
    Fax- 0845 245 3101
    Email- gary.watson@urecruitment.com

Given the sensitive situation we will be working over the weekend and I will be available during the following times:

    Friday: 08.00h – 19.00h
    Saturday: 10:00h – 16:00h
    Sunday: 11:00h – 15:00h

We would like to take this opportunity to assure you of our full support and look forward to working with you to resolve the immediate issues as well as developing an ongoing relationship with you.

    Yours sincerely

    Louisa

Well they're having a laugh aren't they!!! No mention of monies owed - just interested in grabbing our contracts.

I would advise everyone to seek advice before calling them. I am certain that if you submit timesheets to them you will be bound into a contract and who knows what it might say.

I might be more impressed if the signature matched the contact details.

What you all ought to be doing is talking to your client and exploring either going direct or switching to a real agency of your own choosing: I can think of at least four seriously honest ones that would help you out at a reduced margin. I would be very wary of staying with anyone even tenuously linked with the failed agency.
      Blog? What blog...?

Strange that Acumen (liquidated) and U Recruitment both share the same address in Milton Keynes!!

Did anyone already move to a different agent ? or Did any of the clients move you to a different agent ?

If so what were they planning to do ?

                signing with ESS

Personally, if there is any way to get out of signing with ESS I will. The only think I worry about is that it is the only way to get the outstanding invoices paid?

It seems that this is a bit of a legal minefield, and although my company said they would take me on directly, they said they would make me sign a legal paper to say that if ESS pursued them for the money, I would have to pay it back. Surely this would be the same story even going with a new agent?

Is anyone else in a similar position? I really don't know what to do, and the longer it goes on the more money you lose because the invoices just stack up with no option to get them paid. I wish I had walked out straight away as some of you did which would force someone who can afford to (e.g the company) to take the legal advice and sort it out.

                  ESS/Acumen

Charlie Blackbourne is apparently the MD of ESS, he bought Acumen when it got into trouble. Michael Varley who used to work for Generic heads up the IT department for Acumen ( they kept the name) Charlie apparently (and I say apparently as I have heard this rom someone that used to work for Acumen) looks for businesses like Acumen and Veritas to buy and then get them up and running again. Veritas will not keep their name but all the contracts etc will probably run under either ESS or Acumen.

I handed in my 4 weeks notice a couple of weeks ago. The client offered to accept a weeks notice instead of the 4 weeks and to then employ me directly. They also agreed to pay me the 50% of the fee that they had been paying Veritas to help make up for my loss. The client has done the same to the other 'ex'-Veritas contractors in the company.

Worth asking if your client will do something similar?
