To All Veritas Contractors - Worldwide

Without giving too much away and speaking out of turn, Veritas are NOT in administration yet, and I can say with confidence that there are some other negotiations going on that may change things.

My advice at this stage (whilst there is still a degree of uncertainty) is for people to do nothing. Do not switch / change your contracts to any other party until you are fully aware of what you are dealing with.

Ah, before my time, I only got introduced to the dizzy world of contracters in January, only found this forum a month ago.

Funnily enough my productivity at work has wobbled for... oooh, a month or so?

Was it going to raise itself with the ethics and devotion it always promised, should we wait to go with it, or shall we let legalities take it's place and get ethics and business back in play with the proper companies, body corporates >>>>>

If some people haven't been paid since February, why should people hang-on? Veritas has grossly mistreated staff and contractors. I can't see how anyone would ever want anything to do with them again other than if it's to give their bank details for full payment.

Every day people work and are not billing either their client directly or through another agency is money down the drain - as it stands currently.

Doing something is far better than doing nothing, sitting around waiting for the likes of JG to get up off their backsides, who either have our money in their pockets or are so poor at running a business they can't even chase up unpaid invoices or bill people properly.

What news are you privvy to and why can't you elaborate?

As far as I understand things, if Veritas aren't in administration then they have no protection from their creditors. My guess is that the Royal Bank of Scotland are putting together some kind of deal that will ensure that they get their money. They won't necessarily have the best interests fo all creditors (including me) at heart!
Is this the right room for an argument?

"Do nothing and wait and see" is the one thing I would advise anyone NOT to do

When an agency folded on me about 6 years ago this is the advise I was given and followed and it ended up costing me a LOT of money and sinking me into a hole that took a LONG time to get out of, while those who took informed and appropriate action at the earliest stage made it though relatively clean and clear with only a few days lost pay

You should be doing the following

                *Stop submitting timesheets

*Talk to client, see what they feel they are able/willing to do (if you are in location with a lot of of contractors from this agency this will work in your favour as they will be more willing to be flexible). Negociate with them to "take some time off" until this is settled (if they are unwilling then might be good idea to look at terminating/getting out of contract asap but not before doing next point)

*Get proper legal advice (this does not mean just a quick chat with PGC over the phone or your last divorce lawyer, you want a lawyer who specialises in contract law who has read the actual contract. many many agency contracts contain restrictive T&C's are not worth the ink used to type them, you might be in a better situation that you might believe)

If some people have continued working without payment since Febuary they need their heads examined...but before they do i have some swamp land in Florida to sell them

                    Hello CMSKenny

A very intriguing post. Maybe you could tell us who you are so you can add weight to your comments?

You are dealing with a lot of upset people and if you do hold information that may give us hope we all would like to know more or at the least, have it confirmed that you speak with authority.

However, I for one appreciate your note of caution and will take it into consideration.

                    Regards

                    Keith

                      this stinks

Today I have managed to speak to the MD of Veritas. He is calling me back with a name of someone in the bank to help me, as I am trying to buy a house and my mortgage company want to know why I do not have a payslip (or for that matter any pay!!) He has failed to come back to me. I took it upon myself to investigate and have discovered that the following people are dealing with it.

BDO - William Turner he is not an administrator he is in the refinancing team of BDO and is trying to assist in finding a purchaser for the business his number is 01707 255822.

He has told me to speak to the bank RBS

RBS - The person there is Tim Smedley his number is 0870 600 0520, the only problem is that he thinks the company is in administration. They are not the bankers they are the invoicing company, and suggested trying Nat West

Nat West - The Senior Corporate Manager is Joanne Borham. Her number is 020 7672 0251. She is very unhelpful, except she did say that "as the company is not in administration its an operational company". This cannot be true as the company is insolvent, but because in her opinion, it is an operational company, I have to contact Jason Giller.

Rather than spend anymore time chasing circles I have now come to the conclusion that given that the company is insolvent, it has not paid any debts for months, has no money, is still trading according to its own banker, I will be seeking to have the company wound up with immediate effect and seeking recompense from the directors as well as from Nat West who seem to be enabling this to happen.
