With all that's going on in the world, all these wars, it seems increasingly likely that there will be conscription in the UK. Now, I'm too old for that, fortunately, but it does occur to me there may be an opportunity here. I'd say most people on this site are of conscription age and a fair percentage work in IT. So, if there is conscription and folk are shipped off to EMEA, boots on the ground, what's going to happen to the IT industry here?
Supply and demand.
It's not difficult to see rates and opportunities go sky high. Then the other side-effects, such as being able to pick your seat on the train into London. No more need to buy a 1st class ticket. This could be as big as the millenium bug or the dotcom boom, seriously. The polar opposite to what the market has been the last few years.
You can take this as far as you want. Who's going to 'look after' all the women left behind for example?
Anybody else up for conscription?
