And as quickly as they arrive, they dissipate.
WTF is wrong with these agents? Ping you a message on LinkedIn, perfect fit, etc., what's the best number to get you on? So you provide it and f**k all. You even arrange a time 'this afternoon'. Doesn't happen so you ping them a message...

In a bid to get some action (work-wise), via LinkedIn, I turned off my 'open to' green border, left it a couple of hours and re-enabled it. Boom, instant action!!
I've had a number of legitimate approaches, a couple of ridiculous scam type, ego massaging calls, offer £ 1,300 a day...

All this talk on here about bad interviews, lack of feedback, coding tests, etc. Since I started looking again a fortnight ago, I've had absolutely zero of anything. All you need in this game is hope sometimes. Doesn't seem like it's happening this time around.
Happy weekend everybody...

Good luck Dude.
I'm seriously considering trying to get back into the banking scene after a few years off. A couple of days a week back in London would do me a world of good vs sat at home 5 days a week. Kind of sad but I do miss the scene a bit....

History repeating itself.
Back down in sunny Spain, pulse on the contracting market. Posting on LinkedIn again, trying to make something happen. Really positive post with loads of engagement. Net result? Absolutely f**k all so far.
So, weeds cleared from about half of our 140...Last edited by caminito; 21 April 2026, 18:58.

The ban was unfare. I dared to criticise the competency of Rachel Reeves, who wouldn't, but for some that was seen as sexist. Work that one out....

Day 2 on the bench now and starting to get worried. LOL.
Just one more contract, I keep telling myself, then I'm done (again).
It does occur to me that the only reason I'm doing this is to continue owning two homes. If i just sold one of them, the problem goes away.

Easily irritated then?
Point me to the post that 'irritates' you and tell me why....

It was only ever a stop gap until something better came along, so in that regard, it's not the end of the world. The rate was poor though, going back to my first contract some 20 years ago, but it was outside and fully remote.
I don't regret taking the gig but I do regret how it's ended....

You seem to have a problem with me don't you? I suspect that's the reason you banned oliverson for something like 6 months, an excessive period of time. I think the other mods should probably assess that duration, but I digress.

So, the 'consultancy' I was working with decided to terminate my (and many others) contract on the 2 week notice. So, I'm expecting to finish up next week, but this morning in comes another email, 'no need for additional' support, so don't bother logging it. When questioned, they fall back onto the...

The market definitely seems to be improving. It's far better than when I was last looking (most of 2025).
I actually have some optimism that when current gig ends later this month, I will hopefully have something else lined up.
