This is the visa most often used to bring in Indian nationals. The outsourcers can then subcontract that worker into any other British company, and usually for far less than it costs to hire a local. So many big companies have done mass replacement of British workforces with Indian nationals this way. BT and GSK are two classic examples. The Indian national gets to bring their family in, their kids get free education, and NHS picks up the tab for any pre existing medical conditions. They typically move onto indefinite leave to remain after a few years working here, and can get a British passport a few years after than. This route to British citizenship has been used by hundreds of thousands of Indian nationals, and their families. The route is supposed to be closed now, but its not, as in practise anyone who has kids will never be deported from here, and they routinely get allowed to stay.

And its worse than that because they are given massive tax perks to help them undercut locals.

Yep!! it is wrong other countries look after own first...not here!

Can't get work as flooded with applicants 200 plus and rates/salaries massively reduced...Indian nationals think they are in heaven UK wages v's home country wages.

Meanwhile it has brought down UK wages...as now so many more people compared to 10/20 years ago...

Clearly you've not lived in other countries, loads of companies take on expats / migrants to do local jobs for less. As for Indian nationals and UK being a heaven, think again, the ones which have large skill sets can get similar money (what is offered now, I'm not talking £1000 per day contracts) in India, so there's very little in the UK which would convince them to relocate, they would rather pick the US, than this tulip hole.

Well you are wrong! making a broad statement like that .

FYI I lived in Guernsey for several years and locals are protected you have to be either minted to rent/buy an open market property or be there as an "essential" worker and given a visa to work by your employer....you can't just turn up thinking this is grand I'll work here and take jobs from the local residents....

Also FYI I have lived in Switzerland...

Bottom line is as I and other posters have also said the same that the visa route especially from India has been abused and so many more people are competing for the same jobs now...hundreds of applicants for a role and rates driven down...fact!

Plus to add to the scenario in the last 2 companies I have worked at they chose to shift work form the UK to Mumbai and Hyderabad as they didn't want to pay UK wages...things are a-changing...

So, you've been an immigrant in different places and happily used the systems there, but are anti-immigration for the UK.
If you hate the UK so much, why don't you go back to Switzerland or Guernsey?

And how did your daily rate compare to your salary when you were permanent outside the UK?
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Guernsey isn't exactly what I would call super international...

How was Switzerland in terms of protecting "their own"? cause last time I checked and applied for a position there, there was absolutely no issues with non-Swiss to work there, also they wanted someone on a low salary and most of the company workers were non-Swiss / non-EU.

Currently there's a tulip ton of people looking for work in the UK and no, the majority of them are not Indian nationals, whatever Daily Mail is trying to tell you. Heck look at these boards and tell me how many people are looking and have been looking for ages.

Yes I know I am in the same boat I was out of work 10 months last year couldn't get a job despite applying for hundreds of roles, current job about to end as perm person joining on a much lower wage...did you see on the other thread someone posted about a senior PMO role paying £150 p/day inside...its utter madness.

Wages are stagnant in the UK fact, youngsters can't get on the housing ladder fact, there is a huge shortage of housing fact....we have so many more people than we did a decade ago last 10/20 years there had been a huge shift...it is simple economics and consequently wages have been driven down.

used Indian nationals as an example as visa route for them has been wide open across lot of sectors... blame the Daily Mail wow that is original... I'm not a Daily Fail reader by the way...

Well, they're increasing at 2% in real terms, the highest they've been in the last couple of years. They have been pretty stagnant (or worse) in real terms until recently.
