Sadly you wont get any numbers from this bunch - Its like Howdens kitchens - All cloaked in secrecy ostensibly because it is far too complicated to answer!!! I have been trying for years to get this level of info without success.

I am hoping that by retirement or with union introduction for contractors in banking this info will become transparent!!!

So you're still relatively poor. Jolly good.

I'll bite... one of my main skillsets is being an interim IT Director and the highest rate I've seen advertised is £3,000pd.

I imagine for some of the biggest roles in the UK, there are higher rates, maybe nearing £5k but these are handled by headhunters at a few select firms who place candidates very discreetly and don't advertise. I should add that my day rate is nowhere near £3k!

Yep but isn't the highest rate advertised irrelevant? fwiw for my role I tend to see the highest advertised at around £750, bear in mind I don't look that hard.

Possibly irrelevant, the only day rate that's relevant is the one you can personally get a gig for.

There are several detailed day rate surveys published annually. Hays do a good one (IIRC they also have regional rates which most similar surveys don't have.)

If you work in a specific sector then there should be some agencies out there that have data e.g. Financial Services rates.

Agreed, you said it better than I could for nowpermoutside and listed some resources for them.

The most I ever charged was about £15,000 for a 45 minute meeting (including expenses). Might have been £18k, I can’t remember exactly now.

As for the “highest rate I’ve ever seen for my skillset”, do you mean the highest advertised rate, the highest achieved rate by me, the highest achieved rate by another contractor, the highest achieved rate by a consultancy selling in someone with my skillset, or some other random thing?
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore
