I am hoping that by retirement or with union introduction for contractors in banking this info will become transparent!!!
So if you want to know what the highest rates seen for contracts with Python listed as a skill simply click here.
https://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/contra...ly_rates_trend
Instead of asking why don't you both go spend all the time you want drooling over the massive (but unreal) rates you can find.

Make sure you pick Contract Jobs
Search for the skill you are interested in
Check the number of live jobs so you make sure you get the entry with the most jobs hence the most accurate figures
Then pick the icon with a graph and a pound sign and bobs your uncle.
Get your tissues ready, it's gonna be one hell of a night.
EDIT : Pointless telling you but remember this is all scraped data from role ads and we all know the fake ones tend to command the higher rates and even the standard ones are probably less when you land it.
And it's also scraped data so not great.
But it will keep you quiet for awhile.Last edited by northernladuk; 15 February 2023, 23:42.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!Comment

We all know there are loads of inflated rates advertised but most of us know what is realistically achievable in our chosen field.

As for the whole "Inside/Outside" debate and how much each of us is worth, and how many tax dodges you run (e.g. fleeing to Switzerland then setting up a new company in your dad's name), here's a different one:
How much cider did you brew this year? How strong was it? How much did you give away? How many people have asked you for more bottles of it because they liked it?…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

Skillset? Does that involve lots of stress? 6-700 maybe?
I have technically been a lead, manager, etc. Kinda. But I would never apply for that kind of thing.
So realistically I settle for 3-500 range.Comment

Once upon a time in year 2000 I heard stories of contractors getting 1K a day plus equity for C++ / Java development in front office banking
These days it looks like 700 is the max number and IR35 has spoilt things
I would be keen to hear what rates are in 2023 and if I am underpaid and if so by how much
The question is how much are rates in your industry and skillset that are achieveable today vs in the pastComment

A lot of banking roles are run the bank/keep the lights on. They don't require the greatest minds and pay accordingly.
