Those are all gone at next renewal as well.

I've been providing home working solutions for decades. And one of the key drivers to get a reluctant company interested is their BCDR plan. COVID has just magnified what I've been doing for most of working life.
Indeed. To make a full transition to where we are now would have been virtually impossible with the cost, logistics and pissed of permies during the process. I doubt anyone thought WFH was a bad idea and all knew it was the future, there was just very little appetite to make it happen. Covid has been an absolute game changer in this area for sure.

Didn't say that in your initial post.

I know certain sectors in industries that are refusing WFH now, and others who can do WFH but for some stupid reason are insisting on working in an office. This is because government rules have loopholes.

Got a friend who for years has been WFH. Company meets 3 days every month in a hotel. Way cheaper.
I've worked for a couple of multi-nationals where the team was dispersed throughout the UK. As it was in across business functions so we had to meet random people from other parts of the business, if you lived near an office (or in my case up to 4) then you ended up doing the face-to-face meetings with them.

Maybe senior or business managers or something but all managers? No.

The answer should be "it depends".

WFH has many benefits. More time at home/less commuting/cost. It can open up job opportunities/potential employees than if the job required you to be "in office". It can also reduce sick days for a company.

But not everyone wants to WFH full time.

Some people like being in the office and being able to build relationships in person.
Some people living by themselves will find WFH lonely, or plain boring.
A couple living together in a 1 bed flat might not have enough room for both to work comfortably at home.
For younger people starting their career, they may find it a lot easier to get help/mentorship in person.

Younger folk are more and more used to the internet and virtual communication though, so some of these things will become less important

Any other poster would have been banned by now. Its just his continual sucking up to the mods(especially cojak) that gets him through....
