3 Week Christmas / NY Contractor Freeze

Just been told I'm on my very first one, 4 weeks to take off before the end of the year (including public hols).

The best bit is always telling them what now won't be delivered on time, due to these dreadful circumstances .

Have just been threatening to teach the PM some of the technology, as he is the only contractor, in my function, given an exemption

The delicious irony as they have switched all the complex calculations into the reporting layer, rather than doing them in the database, as per the design, because someone "forgot" something.

All the database guys have furlough exemptions, I couldn't help but mention, on the meeting this morning, the irony that they have dumped all the difficult stuff on me, then insisted I have time off.

I've personally never had one enforced, I was always made an exception.
Some years I would have rather I hadn't worked, it was as boring as hell.

Rate cuts, I have never had one of those either and I have worked in FS for a long time, not everyone gets treated the same.

The toilets need cleaning ever day of the year, and you can't cut minimum wage.

At client co bank here there's a few contractors here who were here earlier in the year then got binned, then got brought back. However they can't invoice more than 55 days in the last quarter so they are basically working three day weeks until the new year.

I've been told they want some UK cover over the festivities, so my name has gone down. If I get three weeks off, so be it.

Because of the three week break, we need to sign something on our return which says we've not committed any murders or "worked for anyone else" during the period of downtime. Surely that's an IR35-unfriendly schoolboy error? To be fair though, it was from Lorien who don't give a **** so I guess I should have expected it.
