I used to do that before i had responsibilities... it was fantastic! Can't do it anymore but you can usually rely on a decent break at Xmas. Everyone at current place is peeved at having to take19th Dec - 3rd Jan off, i think it's the best news i have had all year! Good for ir35 too as the same doesn't apply to the permies. -
Not so sure it's as useful as you think. It's only the same as them doing to you what you do when you tell them you are unavailable when you want holidays. Can't do any harm saving the evidence but not offering you work its just part of your T&M style contract.Originally posted by Ketto View PostGood for ir35 too as the same doesn't apply to the permies.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!

I thought this happened everywhere. I was a bit taken aback when it happened to me at my first contract. Now its factored in and adds to my 'most wonderful time of the year' feeling.Comment

My contract is up at the end of the year, won't find out until start of December if funding has been approved for an extension, a right pain as if I'm extending then I'll take 2 weeks off over xmas, if not it makes sense to work over the festive period in anticipation of being off for most of Jan when it's quiet
